Stephen Harper is predicting the Parti Quebecois’ controversial values charter will be a non-starter.
It’s the first time the prime minister has commented since the minority P-Q government released a plan last week that would bar people in the public service from wearing religious headwear.
Harper says he doesn’t see the charter going anywhere in its current form.

Harper told a news conference in B-C yesterday that he believes the common sense of Quebecers will force a reasonable conclusion as the debate progresses.
The P-M added that support for the charter is less than stellar within Quebec.
A poll released yesterday suggests Quebecers are now evenly divided over the charter.
