EDMONTON – Alberta MLAs Thomas Lukaszuk, Jonathan Denis and Frank Oberle were sworn in as ministers in Premier Ed Stelmach’s shuffled cabinet at Government House Friday morning. Lt.-Gov. Norm Kwong presided over the ceremony.
Lukaszuk, third-term MLA for Edmonton-Castle Downs, is the new minister of employment and immigration. Rookie Calgary MLA Jonathan Denis is now minister of housing and urban affairs, and Peace River MLA Frank Oberle is the new solicitor general.
During the swearing-in ceremony, Minister of Advanced Education Doug Horner also took the oath of office as deputy premier.
Stelmach said ministers’ mandate letters will be sent shortly; in the meantime he stressed to cabinet members the importance of communicating clearly.
“Our challenge is to communicate (government policies) to Albertans,” he saids.
