The current record high temperature for this date is 34.8 Celsius set in 2002.

Environment Canada says air over the American Midwest is moving into Southern Ontario this morning in the wake of a strong warm front that will reach the Ottawa Valley by tonight.

A very warm night is expected with evening temperatures likely to reach the mid to high twenties and minimum temperatures overnight in the low twenties.

These hot and humid conditions are expected to ease on Wednesday, but humidex values will likely remain near 40 for the GTA and Southwestern Ontario.

A cold front moving in Wednesday afternoon or evening will bring much needed relief with a return to near seasonal values by Thursday.
