The fire caused an estimated $100,000 damage to the bungalow and another $10,000 damage to the home’s contents. The cause is under investigation.
Another fire in Transcona on Thursday evening didn’t damage any buildings but caused headaches for drivers.
Several roads were closed over the supper hour because of smoke from a grass fire near Dugald Road and Fuller Avenue.
Fire crews controlled the blaze, but smoke reduced visibility, prompting the closures.
