Port Mann Bridge reopens after major crash snarls traffic, injures two

Eastbound traffic is still impacted mid-span on the Port Mann Bridge after a driver of a stalled pickup truck exited the vehicle and was then was rear-ended by a delivery vehicle. – Sep 27, 2021

A huge crash on the Port Mann Bridge Monday morning snarled traffic for about six hours, including into the evening rush hour.

All lanes were opened as of about 4:30 p.m., but since about 10:30 a.m., eastbound on the bridge was blocked and traffic was backed up for many kilometres in both directions.

The BC Highway Patrol said early indications are that a “disabled” pickup truck was rear-ended by a “delivery-type” vehicle, seriously injuring the pickup driver, who’d been outside of the vehicle at the time.

The driver of the delivery vehicle was also injured and had to be extricated by emergency crews.

Traffic in and out of Coquitlam and Surrey was heavily affected.
