Fashion icon Jeanne Beker to be honoured at CAFA awards

TORONTO – Canadian fashion industry icon Jeanne Beker will be honoured at the inaugural Canadian Arts & Fashion Awards (CAFA) in February.

Joe Mimran, creative director of Joe Fresh and CAFA honorary chair, will present Beker with a special achievement award, recognizing her work as an advocate and ambassador for fashion in Canada.

Beker’s career in the fashion industry spans decades. She was the host of Fashion Television for 27 years until it stopped production in 2012.

In 2010, Beker launched “Edit by Jeanne Beker,” a clothing line which she curates for The Bay.

CAFA, which celebrates achievements and emerging talents in the Canadian fashion community, will be held on February 1, 2014 at Toronto’s Fairmont Royal York Hotel.
