Gorham, 39, has received training from CNIB specialists to ensure his portrayal of the character is authentic.

The CNIB said Gorham and the show have increased awareness of, and battled stereotypes around, blindness and vision loss.

The star will be presented with the Seeing Beyond Vision Loss Special Achievement Award at a ceremony at the CNIB Centre on Bayview Avenue.
