U.S. fugitive speeds into Manitoba and steals vehicles, police say

LENA, Man. – A man who police allege sped into Manitoba through a U.S. border crossing and evaded police by stealing several vehicles is still at large.

The man was fleeing U.S. authorities on Saturday when he drove through the Lena point of entry in southern Manitoba without stopping, police said.

The pursuit was called off after the man made his way into Canada.

RCMP got reports of several stolen vehicles, including one in which a vehicle with U.S. plates had been left behind.

At one point, police chased a vehicle down a gravel road before the suspect took off on foot.

A man in Cartier, Man., said he confronted a man trying to steal his Ford F-350 and tried to restrain him, but the man got away.
