Loose goat captured by Calgary police after morning chase

CALGARY – A black and white goat gave police quite the workout on Monday, when it somehow got loose in the community of Forest Lawn.

The barnyard animal was first spotted around 8 a.m. in the area of 19th Avenue and 37th Street S.E.

It’s unknown where he came from, but there is a veterinary clinic nearby as well as a custom meat shop.

Several uniformed officers chased the animal in a game of ‘hide and goat seek’ until they eventually managed to corner him in a backyard.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

The mischievous kid was corralled and handed over to a provincial livestock inspector.

Officials say they will hold the animal for 14 days as they try to find the owner, but if they can’t he will be auctioned off after two weeks.
