Trial date set for Travis Vader

EDMONTON – The man charged with the murders of an Edmonton-area couple who disappeared three years ago is to stand trial next year.

The jury trial for Travis Vader is set to begin in Edmonton on April 28, 2014.

The trial is scheduled to last seven weeks.

Lyle and Marie McCann of St. Albert were reported missing in July 2010.

The seniors were last seen alive gassing up their motorhome for a trip to British Columbia.

The burnt-out vehicle was found west of Edmonton two days later, but the couple’s bodies have never been found.
