CALGARY – A sudden storm that rolled through the city on Thursday evening is being blamed for at least three house fires in the community of McKenzie Towne.
Crews rushed to southeast community around 6 p.m.. after receiving 911 calls from several people concerned that lightning may have struck their homes.

In one home, lightning struck a roof-mounted fan vent which caused the motor to melt.
In the second home, the electrical current caused by the lightning strike caused a light fixture in the home to arch and trip an electrical breaker.
In the third home, there was only minor damage to the roof caused by lightning.
Officials say there were no injuries, and all three families were later allowed back into their homes.
