Peel Regional Police say a man is dead and a woman is injured after a three-vehicle crash in northeast Brampton on Tuesday.
Const. Himmet Gill said emergency crews were called to scene of the collision near the intersection of Highway 50 and Countryside Drive — on the Brampton-Vaughan border — around 2:15 p.m.
“Emergency services rendered aid to all those involved,” Gill told reporters.
“Two drivers were transported to hospital.”
One of those transported was a 53-year-old man who later died, Gill said. A 30-year-old woman was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Gill said a third person — a 30-year-old driver — was assessed on scene by paramedics and didn’t need to go to hospital.
The driver of a fourth vehicle stopped after witnessing the crash to help those involved, Gill said.
Images from the scene show severe front-end damage to at least two vehicles: a dark-coloured sedan and a white pickup truck.
There is no word on what may have caused the incident.
“Our Major Collision Bureau is now taking carriage of the investigation and they were appealing for any witnesses or any dashcam footage that may assist in this investigation,” Gill said, adding that all possible causes are being looked at.
