EDMONTON – If you were hoping to go for a swim or workout at your local rec centre, you may be out of luck starting next week.
There will be three closures in the coming days, and two of them will be for an extended period of time.
Starting September 3rd, the entire Kinsmen Sports Centre will be shut down to allow crews to repair electrical systems throughout the building. The facility will re-open September 6th.
The pool at Terwillegar Community Recreation Centre will be out of commission from September 3rd to November 5th as crews fix what are described as deficiencies associated with the original construction; this includes pool deck and basin tile repairs.
And the Grand Trunk aquatic area will be closed from September 1st to December 1st for tiling work, flooring repairs, painting, and a deep clean of the air handling system and the facility.
To see what other recreation centre you could use in the meantime, or to find out how the closures may affect your membership fees, visit the City’s website.
