Earl Mulligan Drive was closed between Woodroffe Avenue and Woodgate Way for much of Monday as police kept tabs on the bear, which had nestled into a Barrhaven resident’s backyard.

Police said they were waiting on expertise from Ontario’s Ministry of Natural Resources before attempting to move the bear, which appeared to be injured.

Numerous social media users posted pictures in the past day of a black bear in Ottawa fields or just off roadways.
