An early morning fire in Burnaby sent two people to the hospital with smoke inhalation.
The fire broke out in an apartment suite near Kingsway and Willingdon Street shortly after 2 a.m. causing the entire building had to be evacuated.

RCMP had initially been called to the scene on a report of a robbery in the building, when they arrived they found flames in one of the suites. Police attempted to extinguish the fire themselves.
Firefighters arrived shortly after and managed to contain the damage to one suite.
One of the RCMP officers and one of the building’s residents were taken to hospital for smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
