A man was taken to hospital following a reported stabbing in Peterborough on Tuesday morning.

Just before 8 a.m., police and paramedics initially responded to the incident on Dalhousie Street between Bethune and Stewart streets.

The Peterborough Police Service at 9:10 a.m. issued a brief statement saying one injured person was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre.

A trail of blood was seen leading from a house on nearby Rubidge Street, according to Global News Peterborough’s freelance reporter Harrison Perkins.

Police cordoned off sections of Rubidge and Dalhousie streets as they investigated.

On Tuesday at 2 p.m., police said the victim had sustained non-life threatening injuries following a stabbing a residence on Rubidge Street.

The investigation is continuing and police are looking for witnesses or anyone with information about the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 705-876-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222- TIPS (8477) or online.
