Calgary man dies in Bow River

CALGARY – A 63-year-old man has died after apparently drowning in the Bow River near Canmore.

The man was swimming with friends near the Seebe Dam on Sunday around 3 p.m.

RCMP say it appears he got out of the water, but fell back in and became swept away by the current.

His friends later found the man, but were unable to revive him.

Because of their remote location, the group had to be rescued by a helicopter.

Paramedics also attempted to revive the Calgary man, but weren’t able to.

The name of the victim has not yet been released.
