Liberal candidate Anthony Housefather is the projected winner in the Montreal riding of Mount Royal.
The riding of Mount Royal includes the city of Côte-Saint-Luc, the towns of Mount Royal and Hampstead, the neighbourhood of Snowdon and the western part of the neighbourhood of Côte-des-Neiges. Despite the name, the riding does not include any of the peaks that make up Mount Royal.
Mount Royal is one of the strongest Liberal ridings in the country. The Liberals have had this seat on lock since 1940. The best-known MP of the riding was former prime minister Pierre Trudeau, who represented the riding from 1965 to 1984.
In the last 75 years, the riding has had just five MPs, all Liberal. The last time a Conservative won there was in 1935.
