Liberal candidate Robert Morrissey is projected to claim his third term representing the riding of Egmont in Prince Edward Island.
Morrissey won just under 45 per cent of the vote, defeating Conservative candidate Barry Balsom who took about 30 per cent of ballots cast.
While the Green Party’s Alex Clark once again took third place as he did in 2019, he earned just over half of the votes he did two years ago.
The riding of Egmont is located in the western region of Prince Edward Island.
From 1968 to 1972, Egmont voted blue before it turned into a solid Liberal riding for the next 24 years. It turned Conservative again in 2008 when Gail Shea was elected. She held the position until 2011.
Morrissey took the seat in 2015. Egmont voters re-elected Morrissey in 2019 in a close race against Conservative candidate Logan McLellan.
