Liberal candidate Mélanie Joly is the projected winner in the Montreal riding of Ahuntsic-Cartierville.
The riding is southwest of Papineau Avenue and Highway No. 19 (Papineau Highway) in Montreal.
It was formed from the ridings Ahuntsic and Saint-Laurent—Cartierville in a 2012 electoral boundaries redistribution.
Liberal Melanie Joly won the seat in 2015 with 46.8 per cent of the vote. She was re-elected in 2019, garnering 52.4 per cent of the vote.
In addition to her role as MP, Joly is also Canada’s minister of economic development and official languages.
Only 5.2 per cent of the riding have identified English as their mother tongue, with French being the dominant language.
