Man injured after jumping off bridge at RIDE check point

TORONTO – A 22-year-old man is in hospital after he injured himself jumping over a bridge at a RIDE check point in Toronto’s west-end on Wednesday.

Police say they had a spot check program in place near Jane Street and Tretheway Drive around midnight when officers stopped a vehicle and a man ran out.

The individual then proceeded to jump off a bridge and landed on a container below. He was taken to Sunnybrook Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The other three occupants of the car remained at the scene and taken into custody after police found alcohol in the vehicle.
