Calgary police are seeking witnesses to a serious collision that sent a teenage pedestrian to hospital Wednesday night.

A spokesperson for Calgary EMS said emergency crews were called to a collision at 90 Avenue and Bay View Drive S.W. at 7:35 p.m.

Police said a woman in her 40s was driving a 2006 Honda Pilot west on 90 Avenue when she struck a 15-year-old girl as she was crossing the road in a crosswalk.

The teen was taken to hospital in critical condition. Police said Thursday the girl’s condition had been upgraded to stable.

Police said the driver remained at the scene. Alcohol, drugs and speed are not considered factors.

Investigators are looking into the possibility that the driver’s vision may have been obscured by the sun.
