Police say they were called to the hospital Thursday night and arrested a suspect.

OPP confirmed Friday evening they had charged 35-year-old Brian Nadler of Dollard-Des-Ormeaux, Que., with first-degree murder.

Nadler’s lawyer, Alan Brass said they will be fighting the charge.

“He maintains his innocence and the charges against him will be vigorously defended,” Brass said.

Nadler will appear in court again April 6.

In a statement, the hospital said Nadler has had all of his privileges revoked.

“We want to reassure our patients, their families and the community at large that the hospital site is safe. We continue to deliver our programs in a professional and safe environment,” the hospital said.

Patient services continue to operate, and hospital officials are cooperating fully with OPP, the statement continued.

“We are equally concerned with our employees and physicians that may be affected by this difficult situation. We are providing them with employee assistance and post-traumatic counselling,” the statement from hospital finished.

According to OPP, the investigation is still in its early stages. Police would not provide the number of the deaths they were investigating.

Nevertheless, OPP say there is no risk to public or patient safety and routine activity at the hospital will not be affected by the investigation.
