CONSUMER FYI: Rogers apologizes after cellphone bills sent to deceased Calgary man

CALGARY – There’s a happy ending for a Calgary woman who claimed her late husband’s wireless provider was continuing to send him cellphone bills even after his death.

Diana Bliss cancelled her husband’s cell phone when he died six months ago, but the bills never stopped.

Last week, she received a collection notice for over $600.

After a consumer investigation by Global Calgary’s Tony Tighe on Tuesday, Bliss said she received a phone call from Rogers apologizing.

Apparently there was a cancellation note on her husband’s file but it wasn’t passed on.

They have reversed all charges and told the collection agency to close the file.
