Toronto man crashes sailboat, charged with impaired driving

TORONTO – A Toronto man has be arrested and charged with impaired driving after his 25 foot long sailboat crashed into another vessel near Hanlan’s Point beach last weekend.

Police allege 60-year-old Valetin Chygyrynskyy was operating his boat in blockhouse Bay when it struck another power vessel docked on the west wall of the harbour.

The man then fell off the boat and into the water where he swam to shore and picked up by the Marine Unit.

The sailboat has since been seized and is being held for forfeiture.

Chygyrynskyy has been charged with one count of impaired driving and driving while over 80 mgs operation.
