Man seriously burned in explosion on farm in northeastern Alberta

Halifax area RCMP say a 69-year-old man has been charged after an alleged attempt to hire someone to kill another man. File / Global News

ST. MICHAEL, Alta. – A man has been seriously injured in an explosion on a farm northeast of Edmonton.

Mounties say it happened near the hamlet of St. Michael, about 80 kilometres northeast of Edmonton.

Police say a man was working inside a Quonset hut on a barrel with a torch when an unknown substance exploded.

RCMP say the man and the truck caught on fire.

The man was taken to University of Alberta hospital by STARS air ambulance.

Two Hills RCMP say they won’t be releasing any more information.
