REGINA – The government is reporting losses at ministries and crown corporations between April 1 and June 30, 2013.
The biggest one was at Social Services, where approximately $9,000 was lost between Oct. 2007 and March 2013.
According to the losses report, an employee reported false information while enrolled in an income support program to receive income supplement benefits the employee was not entitled to receive.

The employee has been terminated and the ministry is pursuing recovery of the loss.
SGI reported two laptops, with a value of $980, were discovered missing from storage.
No customer information was lost as the laptops were reserved for community purposes and never deployed to staff.
An internal investigation was conducted and the loss reported to police.

At SaskTel, an employee was terminated after two acts of fraud totalling $592.10.
The employee had purchased an iPhone, then cancelled the finance charges and also applied unauthorized credits to their own SaskTel mobility account.
The loss was reported to police and SaskTel is taking civil action against the former employee.
An action plan is being developed to implement control improvements to prevent similar losses in the future.
