How to get a gift certificate for $10 of free parking

CALGARY – People parking in the downtown core are getting a break during the month of August.

The Calgary Parking Authority will be handing out parking credits at summer festivals, as a way to encourage people to visit flood-affected areas.

They’ll be giving away 10,000 ParkPlus certificates for $10 at events like Sunfest in Inglewood, the Taste of Calgary in Eau Claire and the Chinatown Street Festival.

Officials will also be visiting participating business revitalization zones (BRZs) with the gift certificates.

The campaign was created to support businesses in Downtown Calgary, Inglewood, Kensington, 17th Ave Retail & Entertainment District, 4th Street, Victoria Park and Chinatown.

Each certificate is redeemable for $10 worth of ParkPlus cell phone account credits.
