RCMP investigating after Surrey pedestrian struck, killed by unoccupied cargo van

An horrific tragedy in Surrey where a woman walking two children was struck and killed by a runaway delivery van. Our Rumina Daya spoke to several witnesses who saw it all unfold – Dec 16, 2020

A bizarre traffic accident claimed the life of a pedestrian in Surrey Tuesday afternoon.

RCMP said an unoccupied cargo van rolled into traffic where it struck a vehicle near 144 Street at 61A Ave. shortly before 3 p.m. The van then continued onto the sidewalk where it struck a woman.

A witness told Global News the victim was with two kids at the time of the crash. The kids ran out of the way of the vehicle, while the woman was struck.

First responders tried to revive her, but she died at the scene, according to RCMP.
