Saskatoon firefighters battle third fire in 12 hours

SASKATOON – It has been a busy 12 hours for Saskatoon firefighters.

Just after 1:15 p.m., fire crews were called to a two-storey apartment building at 1009 Melrose Avenue for a reported fire.

Crews did not see any smoke or fire on arrival.

Further investigation found smoke on the second floor.

It was traced to a suite and firefighters contained the fire to the kitchen.

No one was injured and damage is estimated at $20,000.

Crews were first called to a house fire in the Riversdale neighbourhood just after 2 a.m. Three firefighters were injured battling the blaze.

Then just after 6:20 a.m., crews responded to a house fire at 450 McMaster Crescent. No one was injured in that fire.
