It was after the crash the man tried to get help from nearby residents.

According to the release, officers administered first aid until an ambulance arrived. EMS told Global News early Monday the man was taken to hospital in critical, life-threatening condition.

In an update Monday afternoon, police said the man underwent surgery and was still in hospital but had been upgraded to stable condition.

CPS said they do not believe the shooting was a random attack. There are no suspects currently in custody.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call the CPS’ non-emergency line at 403-266-1234 or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously.
