Winnipeg Jets sign Zach Bogosian

WINNIPEG – Winnipeg Jets general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff can now enjoy the rest of his summer after locking up the last of his big-name restricted free agents.

Defenceman Zach Bogosian was signed Monday to a seven-year contract worth $36 million. Bogosian was set for an arbitration hearing Friday.

Last week, Cheveldayoff avoided arbitration with forwards Bryan Little and Blake Wheeler.

Bogosian was originally selected by the Atlanta Thrashers third overall in the 2008 NHL Draft. Last season, the 23-year-old played in 33 games with the Jets, scoring 14 points (5 goals and 9 assists) in 33 games.

The Massena, N.Y., native has played in 297 career NHL games with Atlanta and Winnipeg, registering 103 points (34 goals, 69 assists) and 237 penalty minutes.
