Police lay charges after pedestrian struck and killed in April

CALGARY – Police have charged a Calgary woman in connection to the death of a pedestrian hit by a car, earlier this year.

65-year-old Wendy Turnbull died on Sunday April 28th, after being hit by a vehicle while crossing 90th Avenue S.W. in a crosswalk at 19th Street S.W.

She was hit by an eastbound Hyundai Accent around 10 p.m.

Police say Turnbull suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on scene.

After an investigation by the Calgary Police traffic unit and consultation with the Crown, police have charged 29-year-old Michelle Corry with one count each of driving without due care and attention, failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk and speeding.

She made her first court appearance earlier this month.
