HAMILTON – A Hamilton woman faces animal cruelty and assault charges after allegedly attacking a woman who confronted her about the mistreatment of her dog.
Police say officers responded to a call Monday about a woman who was punching and dragging her dog by its leash.

Police say the dog was injured and bleeding and that a witness who saw the abuse take place confronted the dog’s 23-year-old owner.
During the confrontation it’s alleged the witness was punched in the face by the suspect, whom police later located at her home.

Police say injuries to the one-year-old dog named Magnum were apparent and the owner was charged.
The dog has since been turned over to the OSPCA.
