Victoria is widely considered a slice of old England.

The city is named after a Queen and hangs onto its royal roots, making the birth of an heir to the throne that much more exciting.

“The Royal family is a family we all know,” says Bruce Hallsor with the Monarchist League of Canada. “Just with out extended family when there is a birth, it is a happy occasion, and Canadians will come together. That is part of the reason why we have a monarchy – it is to give us reasons to celebrate like this and to come together as one country.”

The well-wishes will be passed on in books like the one in the Legislature and many others around the country.
