RCMP investigate homicide in Hobbema

EDMONTON – A 23-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder after Hobbema RCMP were called to a sudden death on the Pigeon Lake First Nation.

The investigation, which involves Hobbema RCMP, the Forensic Identification Unit, Police Dog Section, Wetaskiwin GIS and Major Crimes Investigators, began on Tuesday.

Officers determined 30-year-old Jared Brown died from the injuries he suffered during a fight.

An autopsy conducted Wednesday confirmed his death as a homicide.

Twenty-three year old Randall Cardinal has been charged with second-degree murder.

He will appear in court in Wetaskiwin Thursday morning.

Officers are thanking the community members who helped during this investigation.
