A SkyTrain station in New Westminster, B.C., reopened Friday morning after medical emergency caused hours of disruptions the night before.
Witnesses on the scene told Global News a man and woman had an altercation on the platform at Columbia Station, and the woman was pushed in front of a train.
Police later said a woman, 32, has non-life-threatening injuries following the medical emergency.
A 24-year-old man was taken into custody
“The evidence to date revealed that the victim had a physical altercation with someone on the platform,” New Westminster police acting Insp. Andrew Perry said in a release. “The male that was taken into custody has been released pending further investigation and no charges have been laid at this time.”
Expo Line trains were turned back at New Westminster, Braid and Scott Road stations.
A bus bridge was set up to transport customers between the three stops.
Millennium and Canada Lines were unaffected.
The New Westminster Police Department is encouraging all potential witnesses to contact them at 604-525-5411. The Victim Assistance Unit is also available to support anyone who witnessed the incident.
