CALGARY- A dangerous offender hearing got underway on Monday, for a man convicted of horrific crimes against his former roommate.
33-year-old Dustin Paxton severely beat and sexually assaulted the man, who was dropped off at a Regina hospital. He was badly injured and emaciated.

“I don’t think I did anything wrong, I think I went above and beyond, is what I think,” Paxton said, in a police interrogation video back in August 2010.
Paxton was convicted in the case last February, and the Crown is now trying to prove he is a threat to others and that his behavior will not change. If he is declared a dangerous offender, he could face an indeterminate sentence.
The hearing could take up to four weeks.
