WINDSOR, Ont. – Two Tecumseh, Ont., men are facing numerous charges in what local authorities say is the largest farm animal cruelty case they’ve seen in years.
Windsor-Essex County Humane Society officials say more than a dozen dead animals, including 10 pigs, two ducks and two sheep have been found at a farm (on Manning Road) in the town east of Windsor.
Executive director Melanie Coulter says humane society officers who went to the farm saw “dead pigs all over.”
She says many of the remaining animals on the farm were near death from starvation and some of the pigs had resorted to cannibalism to stay alive.
John Holland and Eddie Blake are charged with animal cruelty-related offences and are scheduled to appear in court July 29.
Coulter says the charges come after a five-month investigation.
