Butcher shop lacking in training, supervision, and safe operation of equipment

Worksafe BC has completed its inspection report into the April 28 accident at the Vernon Butcher Shop, where a 22-year old employee lost part of her arm and three fingers.

The business has been issued with eleven orders or non-compliance.

Worksafe BC says that the butcher shop was found to be lacking in training, supervision, and safe operation of equipment.

The business will now have to put programs and procedures in place to prevent any further injuries from occurring.

22-year old Christine Molaison lost part of her right arm and three fingers from her left hand while cleaning a meat grinder.

A Facebook page has been started, and there are already hundreds of well wishes for her recovery. Molaison remains at Kelowna General hospital, where she is expected to spend another few weeks.
