TORONTO –Five more bodies have been discovered in Lac-Megantic, Que., in the aftermath of last weekend’s fiery train disaster, raising the death toll to 20.

Quebec provincial police say the 30 who are still missing are likely dead. To date, only one body has been identified.

On Wednesday, the Quebec government announced a multi-million dollar fund to help victims of Lac-Megantic.

The president of the U.S.-based rail company at the focus of the disaster was also under heavy fire Wednesday as he visited the town 250 km east of Montreal.

$60 million – The total amount of financial aid the Quebec government promised on Wednesday. The three-tiered plan includes $25 million for urgent relief, $25 million for rebuilding the devastating downtown core and $10 million for longer-term economic aid.

70 – Number of people interviewed by provincial police who declared Wednesday they are conducting a separate criminal probe from the federal Transportation Safety Board.
