SASKATOON – Three people are facing charges after a dog was shot and killed this past April just west of Saskatoon.
Bentley, an eight-month-old St. Bernard, was killed after being shot metres away from where his 16-year-old owner, Lianne Price, was standing.
Eugene Krawchuk is facing four charges in the death: wilfully killing a dog kept for a lawful purpose, possession of a firearm without being the license holder, use of a firearm in a careless manner and destroying a dog other than in the prescribed manner.
The first three charges are under the Criminal Code while the fourth is under the Animal Protection Act.
Laurie Krawchuk has also been charged with possessing a firearm without being the holder of a license.
Both are scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 21.
Michael Price, Lianne’s father, is charged with assaulting Eugene Krawchuk. He will appear in court on Aug. 20.
The charges were laid after consultation with the Crown Prosecutor’s office.
