DancEgypt back at favorite summertime festival

SASKATOON – Saskatoon’s Egyptian dancers look forward to performing at Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan every year.

DancEgypt originally approached the festival about performing in 2000, and since then have taken the spotlight year after year.

The group has grown into a crowd favourite. They say they have quite the following now and people come out to watch for their fast hips and dazzling costumes.

“Egyptian dancing is also known as belly dancing in Canada, it’s kind of like calling a tissue Kleenex, it’s just a label,” said Monica Kreuger, dance director with DancEgypt.

DancEgypt will be performing Monday’s on July 15, 22 and 29 at 7:30 p.m..
