Poor road conditions on most Sask. highways

The Saskatchewan Department of Highways is advising drivers to stay off many of the roads in the southern part of the province due to poor road conditions.

Winter conditions exist on most of the highways, including blowing snow and reduced visibility.

On Highway 16 between Saskatoon and the Manitoba border, there are large snow drifts on the side of the road and swirling snow. From Saskatoon to the Alberta border, road conditions are relatively good, according to the Highways Hotline.

Drifting snow and snowdrifts have been reported on the Trans-Canada Highway from Regina to the Manitoba border and from Swift Current to the Alberta border. Between Belle Plaine and Swift Current, driving conditions are relatively good.

Highway 11 between Davidson and Saskatoon is seeing good winter conditions, but the highway from Davidson to Regina is slippery and has lots of snow drifts.

Contact the Saskatchewan Highways Hotline at 1-888-335-7623 before traveling on highways in southern Saskatchewan.
