It appears efforts to attract more students to the University of Regina are starting to pay dividends.
Preliminary numbers show enrolment has increased by four percent at the post secondary institution, and if you include the three federated colleges on campus, more than 12,000 students are enrolled in classes for the first time since fall 2006.
“We are pleased to see an increase,” U of R President Vianne Timmons said in a release. “We have been reaching out to communities across the province so that as a provincial university we can better meet the needs of Saskatchewan people.”
The university has been working hard to attract more students to the school. In 2009 it launched the UR Guarantee program, which guarantees a student will find a career-related job within six months of completing their degree.
