A motorcyclist in his 50s is dead after a single-vehicle crash in Calgary on Saturday, according to police and EMS.
Officers said a driver came across the crash in the 3000 block of 114 Avenue S.E. after 5:15 p.m. and alerted emergency crews.
EMS said the man died at the scene.
“From what it appears right now, speed may have been a factor but we are investigating that,” Sgt. Steve Campbell said.
“It is too early to determine if there are any other factors involved.”
Campbell reminded drivers to be safe on the roads.
“Right now, we’re seeing certainly an upswing in motorcycles on the roadways and we are certainly seeing some high speeds from motorcycles, as we do every year,” he said.
“So it’s just making people aware that motorcycles are on the roadways and that motorcyclists have to drive appropriately and slow and follow the speed limit.”
Roads were closed as police investigated.
