Toronto City Council held a special meeting online on Thursday due to restrictions on public gatherings during the COVID-19 pandemic.
City councillors used an online video conferencing platform while the public watched a livestream of the meeting on YouTube.
It’s the first time councillors of Canada’s most populous city met virtually.
Mayor John Tory’s report and the reports from municipal officials on the COVID-19 emergency response was reviewed.
Council also voted to extend the City of Toronto’s state of emergency and approved a modular supportive housing pilot project.
