“Post-apocalyptic feel”: B.C. Conservative says Tumbler Ridge vigil helped release community’s grief
Description
February 14, 2026
B.C. Conservative representative Larry Neufeld says the first days after the Tumbler Ridge school shooting felt “post-apocalyptic,” with residents moving through the community in shock. In an interview with Global News, he says an impromptu vigil marked a turning point, as hugs turned into wailing and residents began releasing their grief. Neufeld adds that both the premier and prime minister have pledged ongoing support, and that students will not be forced to return to the school building.
