VERNON, BC — A Vernon motorist who ran over and killed a cyclist has pleaded guilty to a charge under the Motor Vehicle Act.
Mercedes Mari-Lynn Fraser, 17, was riding on a 25th Avenue bike lane last August when she was struck head-on by a car that drifted into the lane.
An RCMP traffic analyst estimated the car was travelling more than 20 kilometers an hour over the speed limit and there was no attempt to brake or swerve before the collision.
The 68 year old driver told police she has no memory of the crash may have fallen asleep.
Rose Harman has now pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention. Harman will be sentenced at a later date.
