NS man gets 17 months for trafficking bath salts

NEW GLASGOW, N.S. – A Nova Scotia man has been sentenced to 17 months in jail on a series of drug charges, including possession of bath salts for the purpose of trafficking.

Forty-five year old Reginald Stewart Miles of Eureka is the second person in Pictou County to be sentenced for trafficking of MDPV, which is the chemical name for bath salts.

Miles was given 12 months in custody for the trafficking charge, along with an additional five months for three other drugs charges, two breaches of undertakings and a single count of weapons possession.

The charges arose from incidents over an eight month span between June 2012 and January of this year.

Miles will also spend nine months on probation following his time in custody.
